Porcelain veneers

Learn what porcelain veneers are, which smile concerns they can address, and what tooth preparation and placement involve.

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin tooth-colored porcelain shells that are custom designed to cover the front of your teeth. Veneers enhance your current smile.

Who does a veneer benefit?

Veneers may help improve the appearance of stained, chipped or rough-edged teeth; fill gaps between front teeth; or change the shape, length or contour of teeth visible when smiling. Dr. Ona will assess whether your teeth and gums are healthy enough for veneers and whether they fit your needs.

How is it done?

Porcelain veneers are individually created to match or enhance your smile. After a small amount of enamel is removed, the veneers are bonded directly to the front of your teeth. Enamel removal makes this treatment irreversible. Teeth can still develop decay around or under veneers, so brushing with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between teeth remain important.

Whether this fits you depends on an exam. Bring your questions to any visit, and see insurance and payment for cost questions.
