Implants
What is an implant?
A dental implant replaces the natural root of a tooth. It is used to fix a tooth or group of teeth. Implants are placed into the jawbone enabling a permanent replacement of teeth without the inconvenience of removable dentures, or preparing unnecessary teeth for a bridge.

Who does an implant benefit?
An implant benefits anyone who needs to replace a lost tooth or a group of teeth. It prevents teeth shifting in to the gap caused by missing teeth. Also a finished implant improves chewing ability. Implants are recommended for those who wish a more permanent solution than removable dentures, and more conservative option to the surrounding teeth.

How is it done?
The placement of an implant is a two fold process. First, the implant is placed into the jaw bone creating an artificial root for a tooth to attach to. Once the implant is in place a healing cap is placed over it to allow it to heal. After a few short months the implant becomes securely fused with the jawbone and the new permanent tooth will be made.
