Whitening
If you are unhappy with the “color” of your smile, tooth whitening may be a perfect solution. As we age our teeth discolor for a variety of reasons, causing a dingy smile. But, most stains are easily removed. The active ingredient in tooth whiteners is peroxide. When applied, the peroxide breaks down allowing oxygen to enter your teeth to remove the unwanted color, without harming the structure of your teeth. The result - a beautiful smile. It is important to take the condition of your teeth into account before starting a whitening program. If you have veneers, bonding or implants, they will not respond to the whitening soluiton and will need to be adjusted once the bleaching is complete.

What is Whitening?
A simple, non-invasive procedure which gets below the surface to lift stains that regular brushing can't erase. It is used to make teeth whiter, with dental bleaching agents and/or other tooth cleaning measures.

Who does whitening benefit?
Many people want whiter teeth because they feel that it will make them look more attractive. Whitening benefits anyone with unwanted stains caused by anything from tobacco to age which causes the darkening of teeth.

In-Office 2 hour Whitening
This is a one-time procedure that offers a quick solution for teeth whitening. The procedure entails a concentrated peroxide gel placed on your teeth and allowed to remain in place. Treatments like this tend to be faster, but they require about 2 hours of chair time.

Take-home 7 day Teeth Whitening
This procedure usually takes one week at home to complete. Schedule an appointment with Healthy Smile to have your custom made whitening trays made. Once you have your custom trays, you will fill each with whitening solution and wear once a day for at least one hour at your convenience. In about one week you will have a whiter, brighter smile!

Lasting Results
While whitening isn't permanent, you should expect results to last for quite some time. Touch-ups can be done with your original trays and a whitening solution refill. Coffe, tea and wine drinkers, as well as smokers, might need more frequent touch-ups.
